Youth Health Insurance Building the Future program: Youth Building the Future is a program created by the current Government to offer opportunities to young people between 18 and 29 years of age who do not study and do not work. This is achieved by linking affiliated companies or businesses, whose objective is to train them for better professional development.

Those who register can enjoy a scholarship of $3,748 per month and be beneficiaries at the IMSS.

Requirements to register in the IMSS


This procedure can be carried out on the official website of the agency, in the IMSS App or in person at the Family Medical Unit (UMF). Those interested should have the following documents on hand:

  •     Postal Code
  •     Email
  •     Current Official Identification
  •     Recent proof of address
  •     Social Security Number (NSS)
  •     Child-size photograph (On-site)

What rights does the Youth Building a Future Insurance grant?


The apprentices will have medical, surgical, pharmaceutical, hospital and maternity assistance, the latter provides care during pregnancy, childbirth, and the puerperium.

It should be noted that there are per-existing diseases that cannot be incorporated into medical care, for example, malignant tumors, diabetes mellitus, chronic diseases such as kidney failure. Also some congenital ailments or mental disorders like psychosis and dementias.

Similarly, there are diseases with a waiting period:

  •      Six months: benign breast tumor
  •      Ten months: delivery
  •      One year: varicocele surgery, nose, and paranasal surgery, etc.
  •      Two years: orthopedic surgery.

Occupational Risk Insurance


Insured persons who suffer an accident at their workplace will be entitled to the following benefits: medical, surgical, pharmaceutical, hospitalization, prosthetic devices, and orthopedics. They will also have rehabilitation and preventive care.

This on the side of benefits in kind, but in case of temporary incapacity for work, 100 percent of the base contribution salary is granted. For partial permanent disability is what results from multiplying 70 percent of the salary to the amount in which the accident occurred.

For total permanent disability the compensation is similar to the previous paragraph and the last 52 weeks listed are considered. It should be noted that there is an assessment in both cases.

How does the Youth Building the Future program work?


First, the interested party must register and have an acceptance age of 18 to 29 years.

Online registration is accomplished on the official site (https://jovenesconstruyendoelfuturo.stps.gob.mx/) where the interested party will validate their data. On the platform, you can choose the area of ​​interest and company that can offer the desired training.

The program lasts a year and each month there will be some evaluation to follow up on your training, in addition to the payment of a monthly scholarship of $ 3,748 pesos.

Once the trainee chooses the workplace, there will be an interview at that location to begin the training.

In case the apprentice does not like the site or prefers training in another area, they can do it, but only once.

When the program ends, the young person will receive a document that certifies their knowledge and skills. You can also be hired at the said workplace, or the platform will offer you other options to enter the labor market.

Likewise, you will have responsibilities such as attending training on the days and times established in the company you have chosen. They are 5 days a week between 5 and 8 hours a day. You must respect the regulations of the workplace and you must also evaluate the performance of the tutor.

The guardian may be a company, institution, or organization. Similarly, you must register online and validate your data with the STPS to receive applications. Their obligations are mainly to guarantee security conditions and to prepare a training plan.

At the end of the training with the young person, the company will receive a badge of Work Center with Social Commitment.

How many people have signed up for the Youth Building a Future program?


Since the program was launched a couple of years ago, almost 800,000 apprentices have been linked and there are around 187,000 Verified Work Centers.

More women participate, as they represent 60.2% and men 39.8%. The education of these apprentices, in its majority, is the preparatory one (335 thousand 628 linked), it is followed by the secondary level (206 thousand 941), and in the third-place are the apprentices with a degree (131 thousand 179).
The 23 and 24-year-olds are the ones that represent the highest records in the program, almost 80 thousand registered people belong to this group. Although, 19-year-olds also constitute a strong number: 72 thousand 540.

It is noteworthy that the program promotes inclusion so that people with disabilities can join the program, so far there are 3,400 young people linked, 63.2% have some sensory disability.
